Who Is Randall Rissman .......well.....Randall Rissman began his photographic odyssey on a family vacation to the Canadian Rockies with his wife and two small children. The kids would always wonder "why is Dad down on his hands and knees taking pictures of rocks with lichen? " , Now they know.
R andall Rissman sees the world as bright and "colorful", but he is strikingly red/green COLORBLIND!!! While the world looks "normal" to him, others see the world quite differently.
He will never quite know what others see and are astounded by in his color photographs.
His photos must have intensity to please his vision, with light, texture, contrast, and composition being paramount. His favorite images are vastly complex and increasingly abstract, involving fall reflections in water and on water.
He so very much enjoys hearing people ask , "Is that a painting or a photo?"
He started out proudly very "low tech" with a Canon EOS and color print film. Reluctantly at first, but now joyously, he has moved into the Digital Age with a Canon D40.
He captures his images by carefully framing them in his viewfinder and holds the camera only with his hands - He shoots what he sees at the moment, giving his images such depth and three dimensional qualities.
